About

Join us for a good old Cornish knees up on St. Piran's Day to celebrate the opening of our 2025 season in our new Barn Theatre.

Jackson’s Claret – new champions of Cornish music – supported by fabulous dancers from Tros an Treys, led by Cornish dance legend and Bard Alex Taylor, along with Cornish Story Teller extraordinaire, Shazz Andrew, bring the old Cornish art of Troyl into the twenty first Century.

A Troyl (think Cornish Caelidh!), combines tunes, songs, stories, costumed display dances  and called dances for the audience to join in. Shazz has been entertaining audiences  for 30 years and brings an additional sense  of fun to the proceedings. As well as offering dances with a caller, Jackson’s Claret will be performing tunes and songs for Nos Lowen dancing for the audience, where traditional Cornish dances are led by expert dancers, rather than called and you just follow the straightforward steps.

Nos Lowen is Cornish for “happy night”….The Art of Troyl GUARANTEES you one of those!
