About
Located on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, the old town of Liskeard is located about 20 minutes drive from Looe. The Liskeard District is a magnet for industrial heritage enthusiasts interested in the history of the Caradon mining area. From here the trail of the Liskeard & Caradon Railway can be followed for much of its route to Moorswater from where first a canal and later a railway carried the copper ore and stone to Looe for transportation by sea. Strong mining communities developed in the villages of Herodsfoot and Menheniot
The town has wide range of shops, services and facilities. Most shops are indepdently run, many specialising in unique local products and some still retain their original Victorian shopfronts and interiors.
